We visit two wine makers, dine in a fabulous small trattoria in the village of Conegliano plus visit Treviso, now made famous by John Grisham in his book ‘the Broker’.
Day 5 Morning departure for Tuscany by train. Noon arrival in Florence. At leisure in Florence. Late afternoon arrival in Greve in Chianti. Dinner is in the ancient village of Lamole.
Day 6 This morning we are cooking in the kitchen of Rosella. Her family have cooked here for fifty years. Both Rosells’s daughters work in the kitchen and also her mother still comes in to make her specialties. This is a real Italian family restaurant. From chopping the vegetables, preparing the meats to making the desserts, this will be a ‘hands on’ experience. This afternoon is at leisure to relax in the village. You might like to join Steve on a picturesque walk across the local vineyards.
Day 7 Today is market day in Greve. The village center will be covered by traders selling anything from clothing to foods to household wares to live ducklings. This is a photographers dream but also a great time to buy some ‘do-dads’ to take home (please, not the ducklings). By the afternoon the market has packed up and gone and we will start out final cooking session. This evening we will dine overlooking the square from Rosella’s restaurant balcony. It’s always fun giving out the recipe’s and awards and you may enjoy joining Rosella’s husband on a horse drawn carriage ride around the town.
